Most of Warframe's star chart is happy to be played solo or with whoever public matchmaking hands you, and for plenty of it that is the right call. The game changes once you reach content where four people with a plan beat four people with good builds: Eidolon hunts, Archon Hunts, long Steel Path runs, Railjack, and relic farming done properly.

Why Warframe players end up looking for a group

Relics are the clearest case. In a Void Fissure mission, each player who cracks a relic reveals one reward from it, and everyone who cracked one picks any of the up-to-four rewards on offer — their own or a teammate's. Four players who agree to open the same refined relic get four rolls at the Prime part they all want. Four random players with four different relics get, at best, one roll at it.

Eidolons are the clock-driven case. They rise on the Plains of Eidolon only at night, are steered with Eidolon Lures, and walk back into the water at sunrise. A squad that knows who handles lures and who handles shields gets through the night; a public squad often spends it working that out.

Then there is difficulty. The Steel Path adds 100 enemy levels and 250% enemy health and shields. Archon Hunts are a weekly three-mission run, reset Monday at 00:00 UTC, ending in an Archon fight at enemy level 145–150, and they need a rank 30 Warframe. Railjack can be flown alone, but it is designed for a crew of four splitting the helm, the guns, repairs and fending off boarders. None of these require a fixed group. All of them go better with one.

Where to find Warframe players, and what each option is good at

Public matchmaking fills a squad for most missions in seconds and is the right tool when you just want the mission done. It tells you nothing about who you are getting.

The Recruiting chat channel is on by default and is the fastest way to fill a specific run right now — "LF2 Eidolons" gets answered. It is shaped by your Region setting and language, scrolls fast, and forgets you the moment the run ends.

A clan is persistent. Clan Only matchmaking pulls in clanmates who are already in public matchmaking, Friends Only mode keeps strangers out while letting clanmates in, and a squad of clanmates earns bonus resources for the Clan Vault. What a clan rarely gives you is a time that four people agreed on.

The official Discord, which Digital Extremes points players to for finding a squad, is large and quick, and good for a question or a same-hour group.

the100 is for the planned version: a session with a start time and open slots, posted ahead of time, and groups that persist across nights so the people from Tuesday's Eidolon hunt are still there on Friday. A group's sessions can also be posted to its own Discord server by the the100 bot.

Crossplay and cross-save, and what they change about finding people

Warframe runs on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, and every version plays together. Cross Platform Play is on by default and can be switched off in Options. There is no Mac or Linux version.

Cross-save exists too, through Account Linking: you start from a PC Warframe account (you never have to play on PC), link one account per platform, and the account you pick as Primary permanently replaces the others. Platinum cannot be traded between Switch and other platforms.

In practice, platform is a small constraint for missions and a real one only for clans, because a clan accepts other platforms only if its leader enabled Cross Platform Clan. When you read a session or a group, weigh the time zone and the content more heavily than the platform tag.

Does Warframe have crossplay?

Yes. PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android players can all squad up together, and Cross Platform Play is on by default. You can turn it off in Options if you want to match only with your own platform. Clans are the one exception to watch: a clan only accepts players from other platforms if its leader has enabled Cross Platform Clan.

Does Warframe have cross-save?

Yes, on every platform, through Account Linking. You need a PC Warframe account as the anchor, you can link one account per platform, and the link is permanent — the Primary account's progress replaces the others. Platinum cannot be traded between Nintendo Switch and other platforms.

How many players can play Warframe together?

Four. Missions, open-world landscapes and Railjack all use squads of up to four players. Clans and alliances are much larger, but you still play in fours.

Can you play Warframe solo?

Yes. Solo mode keeps strangers out and lets you pause outside open worlds, and plenty of the star chart is comfortably soloable. The content that pushes people toward a squad is the coordinated stuff — Eidolon hunts, relic runs, Railjack and the hardest Steel Path and Archon Hunt missions.

What is the best way to find people to play Warframe with?

Decide whether you need someone now or someone every week. For now, the Recruiting chat channel and public matchmaking are hard to beat. For a regular group, join a clan that plays in your time zone or answer a scheduled session with open slots, so next week you are not starting from zero.
