Helldivers 2 on The100 right now: 13 groups recruiting.
Helldivers 2 drops four players onto a hostile planet with one shared objective, one shared reinforcement pool, and friendly fire that never switches off. That last detail is why the game plays like a different title with a squad you chose than with three strangers pulled out of quickplay.
Every post above is a real Helldivers 2 player looking for a fourth. Below is what actually matters when you pick who to dive with.
When Helldivers 2 stops being a game you can solo
Nothing prevents you from dropping alone, and the game scales enemy density down for smaller teams. Through Trivial, Easy and Medium a competent player clears objectives without ever speaking to anyone.
That stops being true around Challenging and Hard. Rare Samples start appearing at Challenging and Super Samples at Extreme, so the upgrades you want are gated behind difficulties where you are no longer comfortable. From Hard upward every operation also carries a modifier — fewer stratagem slots, longer call-in times, more complicated stratagem codes — and modifiers punish four people improvising separately far harder than they punish individual mistakes.
By Suicide Mission, Impossible, Helldive and Super Helldive, patrol density and heavy-unit spawns assume four players covering four angles. The wall most people hit at difficulty 7 is not aim. It is that nobody is calling reinforcements, nobody brought anti-tank, and nobody is watching the extraction timer.
What a squad you picked actually changes
Loadout coverage is the obvious one. Four players who agreed beforehand bring an anti-tank option, something for chaff, a support weapon worth resupplying, and orbitals that do not all land on the same target. Four random players bring four favourite guns and discover the gap when a Bile Titan or a Factory Strider walks in.
Reinforcement discipline is the less obvious one and matters more. The squad shares a finite reinforcement budget. A team that calls people back into cover, away from the fight they just died in, will finish operations that a team burning reinforcements two at a time simply runs out of.
Friendly fire is the reason voice helps even at moderate difficulty. A 500kg bomb, an orbital laser and a well-aimed recoilless round are all lethal to teammates. "Left side, moving" is worth more than any loadout advice on this page.
And sample runs need a plan. Super Samples sit in one place on the map, and someone has to carry them to extraction alive. Deciding that before the drop takes ten seconds and saves the whole run.
Platforms, crossplay, and what that means for finding people
Helldivers 2 is on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X|S, which joined in August 2025. Crossplay works across all three and is on by default, though it can be switched off in settings.
Practically, that means platform is a smaller constraint here than in most games with an LFG scene — a PC player and an Xbox player can dive together tonight. What platform still decides is voice and friending: party chat, friend lists and cross-progression do not span platforms, so a group that intends to play together regularly usually converges on Discord rather than in-game voice.
So when you read a post, weigh the play time and the difficulty harder than the platform tag.

Major Orders reward a squad that plays on a schedule
The Galactic War runs on collective progress. Major Orders — now structured as longer galactic war campaigns running roughly one to three weeks — ask the whole playerbase to take or hold territory, and pay out Medals when the objective lands.
Warbonds themselves do not expire, so the gear track has no urgency; you can work through one at whatever pace you like. The campaigns do have a clock. That inverts the usual advice about finding people: a group of four who reliably play the same two evenings a week will see more of the war than a roster of forty who never overlap.
It is the single strongest argument for finding a small regular squad rather than re-rolling quickplay every session.
Writing a Helldivers 2 LFG post that gets answered
The posts that fill fastest say four things: the difficulty, the enemy faction, when you are starting, and whether you want voice. Everything else is negotiable once people are in the ship.
"Helldive, Automatons, 9pm Eastern, mic preferred, happy to explain the mission to anyone who has not run this one" will find three people. "anyone wanna play" will not, because nobody can tell whether it is aimed at them.
If you are still climbing, say so. Plenty of players enjoy running a difficulty below their ceiling with someone learning it, and squads that say "beginners welcome" out loud fill from a much larger pool than squads that assume everyone already knows which Terminid to shoot in the abdomen.
Helldivers 2 LFG — Frequently Asked Questions
How many players can play Helldivers 2 together?
Four. A full squad is four Helldivers, and that is the hard ceiling — there is no larger raid or public-lobby mode. Enemy density scales down for one, two or three players, so a short squad is playable, but the higher difficulties are balanced around four people covering the map.
Does Helldivers 2 have crossplay?
Yes. PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S players can all squad up together, and crossplay is enabled by default. You can turn it off in settings if you want to match only with your own platform. There is no cross-progression, though, so your unlocks stay on the platform you earned them on.
What difficulty should I be looking for a group at?
Match the difficulty you want to play, not the one you have cleared. Most players start wanting a real squad around Challenging or Extreme, where Rare and Super Samples appear and operation modifiers begin stacking. Difficulty 7 and above — Suicide Mission through Super Helldive — is where a coordinated four-stack stops being a nice-to-have.
Do I need a microphone to play Helldivers 2 with a group?
Not at all times, but it helps more here than in most co-op games, because friendly fire is always on and stratagems are lethal to teammates. Plenty of squads run fine on map markers and quick pings. If you would rather not talk, look for posts that say mic optional — they are common, and saying it up front saves everyone the awkward first minute.
What are Major Orders, and do I need a squad for them?
Major Orders are community-wide objectives in the Galactic War, now structured as campaigns that run for roughly one to three weeks and pay out Medals on success. You do not need a fixed squad to contribute — every mission you finish counts. But because campaigns are time-boxed while Warbonds are not, a group that plays on a predictable schedule gets far more out of them than one that logs on at random.
Is it too late to start Helldivers 2?
No. Warbonds do not expire, so nothing on the gear track has been missed — you can buy into an older one and work through it at your own pace. The bigger obstacle for a new player is not progression, it is landing in a squad at a difficulty that is actually fun rather than being carried or overwhelmed. That is exactly what an LFG post fixes.
Why use an LFG site instead of just quickplay?
Quickplay is excellent at finding you three people right now and useless at finding you the same three people again. If you only want to fill a lobby, use it. If you want a squad that knows your loadout, plays your difficulty and shows up on Thursday, you need somewhere the people persist — which is what a posted session and a group are for.
